World-renowned YouTuber Technoblade has passed away, and millions are grieving his loss right now. Many parents may at first feel as if the death of a young online personality cannot have any impact on their child. That is, until they know who he is, and watch his final farewell video, which is almost unbearable to watch. These reasons may be behind the hundreds of comments posted in online parenting groups over the weekend, with parents discussing the loss, and how to support their kids.

What is the Technoblade brand?

Known for posting humourous online gaming content, Technoblade has 13 million subscribers on YouTube. A large section of Technoblade's audience is young adults, teens, and even tweens who admire him as a character. Just 23 years old, the young man succumbed to stage four cancer on Friday. He was diagnosed with cancer more than a year ago. He asked his father to read his final message to fans on a laptop eight hours after typing it out. Techblade's dad revealed the news in a video entitled "So long nerds" on Friday. The emotional video begins with Techblade's dad reading, "Hello all. If you're watching, I'm dead. Let's have one last talk. My name is Alex. The name reveal was especially poignant for Technoblade fans since they knew he valued privacy.  Thank you to everyone who bought hoodies, plushies, and channel memberships in the past year. I'm sorry for the fast sales. "My siblings are going to college if they want to," his father said, reading the farewell statement. "I don't want to put any peer pressure on them about my dead brother," he said. Besides raising funds for various social causes, Technoblade's generosity was emblematic.

According to the statement, My thanks to all of you who have supported my content over the years. Those were the happiest years of my life, so I would choose to be Technoblade again every time if I had another 100 lives. "Have fun with my content and I hope I made you guys laugh. I hope you all live happy, prosperous, long lives because I love you guys. Technoblade out." The parents of Technoblade have released statements. Alex's dad shared further details after reading Alex's words. Eventually, I just got down on my knees by his bedside and told him, "Alex, you don't have to do anything else, you've done so much for so many people, millions. And if you want to rest right now, you can. You should not wait to write one last video if you want to, but if you want to now. There's no hope for improvement." Throughout Technoblade's early online days, his mother said, "He always looked for ways to reward and delight his audience." Despite his eventual success, he still maintained a good-natured humility, competing between self-deprecating humor and confidence. Throughout his life, he avoided personal prominence and sought to maintain his privacy and that of his family. Please respect his wishes by respecting his privacy." It was a shining lesson for all of us who were privileged to walk this path with my son that he did not complain, but kept trying to beat what he knew were almost impossible odds. His bravery on this path was a shining lesson to all of us who were privileged to walk it with him."As he did the work he loved for the fans he loved, thank you for sharing his journey."

A parent seeks advice after losing a hero

Almost one million comments have been left on Technoblade's last video, demonstrating the outpouring of grief for him. The end of Technoblade is finally here. Thank you for all the years of content, laughter, and memories. I am so grateful that I will be able to watch all of your videos forever. I will always hold you in my heart.". It has been a pleasure knowing you over the years; you deserve to rest easy." There were also a large number of parents who took to Facebook groups to discuss the death. Many of them didn't even know who Technoblade was, which made it harder for them to support their grieving children. One mum wrote, echoing the sentiments of others, "Do you feel like you're failing because you didn't know Technoblade was such a hero to your child?". Do you have no idea how to talk about the death of someone you only knew from the internet?". In response to a parent, he noted that it's just like losing a music icon or Hollywood celebrity. There's no point in mourning David Bowie and Kobe Bryant online. We never met them." According to another, "It's about what they meant to us and how significant they were to us at that time in their lives. So we tell them to be sad, but also to think of all the good they did and all the great memories they left." As Technoblade meant so much to so many people, this advice is excellent for grieving someone special who was so important to you.
