The former Laguna Beach star shared a personal account of her divorce from Jay Cutler and how it launched her self-discovery journey in her "most vulnerable" interview to date. Kristin shared that, feeling "really unhappy" toward the end of the relationship, she knew she had to make changes for the sake of her children with the NFL star: Camden, 9, Jaxon, 8, and Saylor, 6. On the School of Greatness podcast, she said, "The scariest thing I've ever done is get divorced." She then added, "But it has been the best thing I've ever done and it has really helped me figure out who I am."

Putting herself first meant realigning priorities for the founder of Uncommon James. She said her children have inspired her to become the best version of herself. "I can only be as good to my children as I am to myself. If I am empty, I have nothing to give. Being able to love me and energized so I can love on my children - and support them and encourage them - is what is most important."  Kristin noted that, during that period of self-reflection, it was important for her to take a break from dating and "feel everything I needed to feel before I could really move on." Otherwise, she observed, "How is there any growth here?"

"I think I've reached a very peaceful place. I feel the best I have ever felt in my entire life. I'm the happiest I have ever been," she told Lewis Howes. "I am not afraid of getting hurt anymore." Kristin, who filed for divorce from Jay in 2020 after a decade together, said, "I'm actually looking forward to finding who I can be in a new relationship, as I have worked hard the last few years. I am not looking forward to finding a new relationship, but when I am, I will be excited to find out how different I can be."."
