In the latest Southern Charm episode, Whitney Sudler-Smith played the guitar for Patricia Altschul’s dog wedding, and fans are slamming his shredding skills. Whitney has been in Southern Charm since season 1, and many followers were surprised to learn that he is the creator and producer of the hit Bravo show. The actor and musician had a more prominent role in the first few seasons but lessened his screen time after season 3. He has since made cameos and has a recurring “friend of” role.

Although Whitney has stepped out of the main spotlight in Southern Charm, his mother, Patricia, has been a mainstay of the series. The resident matriarch often hosted dinners and parties at her Charleston mansion and provided witty commentary about the cast members’ lives. Many Southern Charm fans have accused Patricia of favoring the men on the show and hosting male-only dinner parties. However, she soon became more inclusive and threw many events for the women.

About The Dog Wedding 

In a recent Southern Charm episode, Patricia informed Shep Rose that his dog Little Craig had sullied her dog Peaches. She demanded that Little Craig make Peaches an honest dog and marry her. Patricia hosted a dog wedding in her backyard, complete with a veterinarian officiating. Whitney, who was a member of his former band Renob, played his electric guitar for the ceremony. Southern Charm fans were not impressed with his skills, and Reddit user u/newnewster asked, “Why did they let Whitney play guitar at the dog wedding? He is a sub-par guitar player, and I don’t get why he would be asked or insist on playing.”

The Dog Wedding Event Brought Levity To Season 8 

Many southern charm fans shaded Whitney by stating the only reason he was allowed to play during the episode was that he is a producer of the show. One Reddit user stated, “Whitney is the creator of Southern Charm and producer, so he could do just about everything.” Another writer said, “And it was his mommy’s turn to host a made-up event so they had something to film. He is always center stage in her stories.” One Southern Charm fan noted, “He even had the wedding song backward he played the recessional wedding music for the processional wedding music.”

Patricia’s dog wedding was one of her most outrageous parties in Southern Charm. However, the lighthearted event brought levity to season 8, which had started off with a blowout fight between Kathryn Dennis and Naomie Olindo. Madison LeCroy and Venita Aspen’s joint birthday party also ended up with castmates bickering with each other, causing Patricia to admonish the women not to swear at the table. Despite Whitney’s bad guitar playing, many Southern Charm fans enjoyed the silly event.
