The American singer, songwriter, and a multi talent artist Melanie Adele Martinez rose to fame after she was first auditioned for the American television vocal talent show "The Voice" and later teamed with Adam and her popularity multiplied among fans.

After a few minutes of the play, she was eliminated, which made her work on her original content. The singer was born on April 28, 1995, in Astoria, Queens, to parents of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent; as she reached four, she settled along with her parents in Baldwin, New York. 

Melanie Martinez loves to hear songs on the radio

Growing up, she was interested in music and often listened to Shakira, Britney Spears, The Beatles, Biggie Smalls, and Christina Aguilera on the radio.

Being gifted with an impeccable voice, she pursued music during her school days at 'Plaza Elementary School, where her music tutor Mr. Nadien helped her with her singing lessons and started writing poetry in kindergarten.

Her school classmates called her a cry baby because she is emotionally unstable and cries when overwhelmed. During high school, she participated in the 'MSG Varsity Talent Show' that cleared round one and was eliminated in round two.

After coming to the limelight, she even titled her debut album “Cry Baby” to gain success. Later she auditioned for the reality show "The Voice" season 3 was judged by Blake Shelton, Adam Lavine, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera.

Melanie Martinez made three chairs for roles on the show: she chose Britney Spear's "Toxic" and sang it in the first round, and out of four, three chairs turned from Blake Shelton, Adam Lavine, and Cee Lo Green. She chose Adam as her coach and moved to subsequent rounds.

Eliminated on the fifth round of "The Voice"

In round two, Melanie Martinez fought with Caitlin Michelle with Ellie Goulding's song 'Lights' and was selected by Adam to move on to the 'Knockout Rounds' for which she sang La Roux's 'Bulletproof.'

She cleared the third round and entered the 'Live Shows.' Public votes hugely supported her 'Seven Nation Army' song and 'Too Close,' which finished at number 10 and number 6 on 'iTunes' and went on to pass five rounds to finally get eliminated in the sixth week of the 'Live Shows.'

First debut music video

Melanie Martinez's elimination was a gateway for her original content, and she started to write lyrics for her song in 2013. In February 2014, she released her debut single titled 'Dollhouse' along with a video. Her first musical journey was funded by her fans and was made with no charges by her friends.

After its enormous success, Atlantic Records quickly signed her and shortly afterward released her debut EP, 'Dollhouse,' which was promoted via a 'Dollhouse' tour from 2014-2015, which was produced and co-written by 'Kinetics & One Love.'
