Denise Austin, 65, is proudly wearing a bikini.

When she and her daughter, Katie Austin, walked the runway for the Miami Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show in 2022, the renowned fitness teacher made headlines.

The '80s icon told news sources that working with the 29-year-old, who has already established herself as a fitness influencer on social media with her own app, was "a complete joy." During the annual Swim Search in 2021, Katie made her SI Swimsuit debut. She later made a comeback for this year's issue as a legitimate rookie.

"I mean, it was a big thrill for SI Swimsuit  to even invite me to be in a bikini at 65 years old and I just went for it," Austin stated.

Austin said that while she is happy to celebrate her body, she also hopes that doing so will encourage other women to reevaluate their health-related aspirations.

Love your body first, Austin advised. "The best you can do must be done. I firmly believe in having a positive outlook. It really originates from within. I enjoy what I do and think I can make other women feel better about themselves. Exercise, nutritious food, a positive outlook, and getting a good night's sleep all contribute to leading a healthy lifestyle. I want ladies to make a sincere effort to eat healthy and exercise more. My message is that. For the past 40 years, I have always urged people to "simply do the best they can." That is crucial."

With her "8-minute abs" workout, Austin shot to stardom in the 1980s and 1990s. Since then, she has sold more than 24 million exercise videos and DVDs. She also spent 14 years as the lead on the popular training programme Fit & Lite.

The mother-daughter team most recently collaborated once more. They introduced the retro fitness class "SlimFast Loves the '80s" in November as a nod to the company's beginnings. It includes both traditional aerobic exercises and Katie's more contemporary method of working out. According to Austin, folks who don't want to wait until 2023 to keep their objectives created the 30-minute workout.

Beginning can be surprisingly easy, according to Austin.

"Walking is really a terrific type of workout," she exclaimed. "I make an effort to walk every day. I take my first steps. You'd burn more calories if you could walk and pump your arms since you'd be activating more muscles. However, a little walk is good. I think there are three strategies to stay in shape: exercise to burn some fat, toning to build lean muscle, and stretching to increase flexibility. I advise folks to workout three days a week if they are just starting out. Your body will change, and you'll notice it. Ensure that you take small steps at a time. Take your time and start slowly."

Austin stated, "I like to stroll and get my steps in around the holidays. I try to exercise most days of the week, but I only workout for 30 minutes. I adore exercising in the morning. In this way, I have the entire day and don't have to worry about fitting everything in. To be completely honest, though, you should only do what you can fit into your schedule. For this reason, it's also fine if you can only exercise for 10 minutes in the morning and another 10 minutes in the evening. As long as it totals roughly 20 to 30 minutes on the majority of days of the week.

You'll succeed admirably. Begin modestly. Get up perhaps 10 minutes earlier than usual and fit in that morning workout for 10 minutes.

If you need more motivation, Austin advised talking to a close friend or family member. According to her, some people find working out more fun when they exercise with a friend.

I normally ask my sisters, "Who wants to work out?" she said. Put it on your calendar, include it in your plan, and it will eventually become a part of your life. It all comes down to lifestyle. You can live a healthier lifestyle with the aid of all of this. Therefore, if you make things easier for yourself, it will stay that way. You'll enjoy doing it more and do it more frequently. The importance of music is also crucial. I adore upbeat music. My music tastes are pretty varied. I have music from Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Drake, and more."

Austin claimed that overextending oneself with "too much too fast" is the most typical error people make in the new year.

"I think it's far better to start easy and do necessary things, like walk," Austin retorted. I believe occasionally individuals attempt to accomplish too much. As a result, you won't be consistent, it will be too difficult to maintain, and nothing will change. Work your way up to four days each week starting with three and make exercise a fun hobby that will help you to motivate.

Driving to a gym might be challenging at times, she admitted.  Since it's convenient for me, I like working out at home. If something is practical, it makes your life simpler, and you'll keep doing it all year."
