JLo was a backup dancer. During her early days of dancing, she was a backup dancer for the band “New Kids on the Block” and even performed in the 1991 AMAs with them. She also appeared as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson in her video, “That’s The Way Love Goes”. Janet had said that Lopez was supposed to go on tour with her but she wanted to do something on her own so she opted out.

She created a foundation to help women and children

In the year 2009, JLo created the Lopez Family Foundation along with her sister, Lynda Lopez. JLo established this foundation so that she could make some changes in the healthcare system. This organization aims to provide help to women and children and to create more healthcare opportunities. Initially, the foundation was named after JLo’s ex-husband, Marc Anthony’s sister who had died due to a brain tumour when she was a child. It was called  "The Maribel Foundation,". Later, the name was changed.

JLo’s debut album was released in 1999 and was named “On the 6”. This title actually has a deeper meaning. When she began her career, she used to travel on the 6 subway line in New York City during to get to and from work in Manhattan and also to get home in the Bronx. So, the title is a reference to that. The album was a combination of Latin with R&B and pop. The songs, “If You Had My Love”, “Waiting for Tonight”, and “Let’s Get Loud” became extremely popular and are still JLo’s most popular hits.
