She created a foundation to help women and children

In the year 2009, JLo created the Lopez Family Foundation along with her sister, Lynda Lopez. JLo established this foundation so that she could make some changes in the healthcare system. This organization aims to provide help to women and children and to create more healthcare opportunities. Initially, the foundation was named after JLo’s ex-husband, Marc Anthony’s sister who had died due to a brain tumour when she was a child. It was called  "The Maribel Foundation,".
