Elizabeth Holmes is rich. Super rich. As the founder and CEO of Theranos, a biotech blood-testing company, 31-year-old Holmes is the youngest self-made female billionaire in America.

Elizabeth Anne Holmes was born on February 3rd, 1984, in Washington, D.C. she is an American former biotechnology entrepreneur who was convicted of criminal fraud. Her father, Christian Rasmus Holmes IV, was a vice president at Enron, an energy company that later went bankrupt after an accounting fraud scandal.  Her mother, Noel Anne, worked as a Congressional committee staffer.

Holmes founded and was the Chief executive officer (CEO) of Theranos, a now-defunct health technology company that soared in valuation after the company claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by developing methods that could use surprisingly small volumes of blood, such as from a finger prick.

Elizabeth got interested in computer programming in high school and started her first business selling C++ compilers to Chinese universities. Holmes attended Stanford in 2002, where she studied chemical engineering and worked as a student researcher and laboratory assistant in the school of Engineering. In 2003, she filed her first patent application on a wearable drug-delivery patch. Finally, she dropped out of the school of Engineering and used tuition money for seed funding in consumer healthcare technology.

Holmes was romantically involved with technology entrepreneur Ramesh ‘sunny’ Balwani, a Pakistani-born Hindu who immigrated to India. The U.S. Balwani divorced his wife in 2002 and was involved with Holmes in 2003. Holmes and Balwani jointly ran the company with a corporate culture of "secrecy and fear," according to employees. Their romantic relationship was kept secret for much of their time running the company. Due to so many misunderstandings between them, had ended up with a settlement before March 2018. Forbes listed her as one of America's Richest Self-Made Women in 2015, with a net worth of $4.5 billion.

Holmes become engaged to William ‘Billy’ Evans in 2019. They married in a private ceremony. The couple lived in San Francisco. In July 2021, Holmes gave birth to a son. In January 2022, NPR obtained a copy of a partial police report from the evening of October 5, 2003. Holmes called the police and alleged she was sexually assaulted at a fraternity house at Stanford between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. that morning. She had started Theranos later that year. 

Does she do any invention?

After dropping out of Stanford University in 2003, Holmes founded Theranos, and then called Real-Time Cures, at the age of 19. The idea that Holmes pitched to the world was that she had devised a rapid blood test that only required a small drop of blood, which in theory could have revolutionized the health care industry.

Is she is a billionaire?

As per the report of Forbes, Holmes, the world's youngest self-made woman billionaire--worth $4.5 billion--in 2014, when she was 30 years old, starting in 2015, Theranos' technology came into question; reporting by The Wall Street Journal revealed that Theranos was using other companies' machines.
