Matt James Reacts To Mom Patty Appearing On The Golden Bachelor

Patty Cuculo James, the 70-year-old former real estate professional will make her 'Golden Bachelor' debut on September 28 after it was revealed that she would be part of the senior-led ABC dating series, which follows Gerry Turner in his quest for a second chance at romance and the 31-year-old reality star Matt James reacted to the news of his mother becoming one of the 22 ladies vying for Gerry Turner’s heart. "i ccc us mama," he wrote alongside a photo of Patty’s headshot posted to his Instagram Story. He added a heart-on-fire emoji while sharing his excitement for her new opportunity to find love. In the Instagram announcement made by Patty, she shared a few screenshots of the promotional material for the upcoming season. “So exciting…” she teased in the caption. Matt also showed more love in the comment section and left a series of heart-on-fire emojis. His girlfriend, Rachael Kirkconnell – whom he met on his season of The Bachelor – noted her support for Patty and wrote, "She's ready to find love.”

ABC revealed on Wednesday, August 30, that senior ladies will be vying for lead Gerry Turner’s heart, while most women are new to reality TV. In a promo for “The Golden Bachelor,” Patty Cuculo James briefly appears and expresses her desire to find someone who cares about family as she does. The show follows Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old retired restaurateur from Indiana, who lost his high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years to a bacterial infection in 2017. The contestants on the show range in age from 60 to 75.

Patty was previously married to Manny James but the pair split when their children were little, according to a 2019 Wake Forest Magazine article. In addition to Matt, Patty, and Manny also share a son named John. During a January appearance on The Tamron Hall Show, Matt admitted that his past dating struggles stemmed from his parent’s divorce. He made history in 2021 as the franchise’s first Black Bachelor and ultimately found love with his season 25 finalist, Rachel Kirkconnell. Prior to giving his final rose, a source exclusively said that Matt was looking for a woman who “he can bring home to his mom. Someone who’s an intelligent, smart, big sense of humor. … Someone who cares about their physical well-being and their health. He’s a man with very high standards.” The Bachelor premiered on ABC in March 2002 with Alex Michel and was dubbed the world’s most eligible Bachelor. More than 20 women competed for his heart and this was one of the most successful reality TV franchises born.
