Goldschneider is getting candid when it comes to her relationship with food. She reveals she "wouldn't call herself recovered" after struggling with an eating disorder for the last 18 years.

The 45-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey star recently spoke with E! The actress spoke with ABC News about her recovery from anorexia.   It has been about a year since I began active recovery, she told the outlet.

My relationship with food has improved greatly, but it's still not where it needs to be. Even though Goldschneider eats more, she still follows rules that make her feel safe and secure when she eats.

Although she is making progress, her therapist and nutritionist encourage her to become intuitive when it comes to eating.

According to her, she isn't there yet. The point where I feel comfortable honoring hunger cues all day without a set limit is when I can recognize my hunger cues and eat accordingly."

In Goldschneider's opinion, the real issue is how he feels about his body. "I need to improve my body image," he said. According to E!, her summers are often filled with mixed emotions or unnecessarily insecure feelings about her body.

She says that she's vocal about her eating disorder "because I don't want people to think that it's an easy or quick process of recovery, because it's not." She was filming a little tank top and kept thinking, "what about this area here and this area here?

In her interview with RHONJ, she praised the support she's received since sharing her story. The number of people who reached out and said it helped them was amazing, she said.

The purpose of this show is clear to me." In an appearance on the reality show earlier this year, Goldschneider revealed that she was concerned about relapsing into her eating disorder after realizing that her kids had picked up on her ritualized" eating habits.

In response to her husband Evan's question, she told him, "I'm so afraid of food and I'm so afraid of gaining weight, but I'm hungry all the time." She added, "I am afraid I will relapse and kill myself. I cannot go on like this any longer."

"It's one thing to do it to myself, but it's quite another to make my children think it's perfectly acceptable," she says.

As a result of the heartfelt conversation, the mother of four agreed to seek additional assistance through therapy. According to Goldschneider, she stepped onto the scale one day and realized, "If I don't stop, I'm going to die."

Her past struggles with anorexia and restricted eating were revealed in an interview with PEOPLE earlier this year. It took the reality star four years to recover from the illness, and she said in 2018 that she is "really proud" of her recovery.

The experience was so hard, she said, and she is very proud of herself for making it through. The experience has been horrible. It has been awful. It was horrible. I hope that I can help people who are suffering in silence like I was.

I wish I had known that one day, I would get through it. That had always been my fear that I would never stop.
