The New Release

Lady A's Charles Kelley has released a fully produced version of his new single "As Far as You Could" as "A Farewell Letter to Alcohol." And Jimmy Robbins came after the country singer publicly decided to quit drinking and begin alcoholism treatment.

The greatest word for me is gratitude, not pride. When announcing the release of his song, the singer said.

Thank you, he added. I see the light and connect with what life is. I had time to think, cheer up, and write. I wrote 50 songs this fall, but this one.

Alongside Haywood, 40, another member of Lady A, Hilary Scott, gave her full support for her new single.

It was especially important for Hillary to tell my story the way she could at your will.

Last month, Kelly shared a demo of As Far as You Could on Instagram, writing in the caption: The song's lyrics chronicle Kelly's struggles with alcohol, from the way he relied on alcohol to perform to the "courage" he felt the night he met his wife, Kathy. Helped make her laugh / He sings until you help me make her cry. You started friends/became different.

As Kelly sings, this song ends with a clear victory over his addiction 'Cause you got me high/You put up a good fight/But look who's standing now/Me lost almost everything before he knew it.

The Past

Kathy, who married Kelly in 2009 and has a six-year-old son Ward, later celebrated her husband's new song in an Instagram story. She wrote at the time, proud that this man worked hard every day for his recovery.

In August, Lady A announced that her next tour would be rescheduled for 2023 to help Kelly settle down. Our greatest joy is traveling with our fans. A few days later, Kelly thanked her supporters in a message shared on Instagram, saying she was grateful that she could focus on her family and health this time around as Far As You Could be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other online platforms.
