Wayne Brady Reveals his sexuality

Brady, who is currently the host of CBS’s “Let’s Make A Deal,” revealed surprising news when he revealed his sexuality in an interview with the people.

“I am pansexual,” Brady said in the interview, which means he finds people attractive regardless of their sex or gender.

Brady, expressed that he had faced a lot of struggles before finally coming out. According to him, he had to go through several therapy and work on his mental health to help him figure out who he truly is.

After revealing that he is pansexual during the interview he went further to say;

“I’m now trying to be the most Wayne Brady I can be. I don’t know about most. I’m still coming together. But If I’m healthy, then I can go onstage at ‘Let’s Make A Deal’ and be the best Wayne Brady that everybody wants and expects. I can be the best dad that Maile needs,”

Defining Pansexuality

Pansexuality is an attraction that is not defined by gender or sex, but rather by an individual's personal connection with another person regardless of their gender identity.

People who identify as pansexual do not consider gender to be a defining factor in their romantic or sexual relationships, and may refer to themselves as being "gender blind". In comparison, bisexual people tend to recognize only two genders: male and female.

The Significance of Coming Out

Before this big reveal to the people, Brady mentioned that the only person who knew about his identity was his ex-wife, Mandie Taketa.

When interviewed, she told the magazine that his coming out news would mean he could now be happier.

Despite being an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Brady expressed his own feelings of shame and how it adversely affected his mental health due to his inability to be truly honest about himself.

"I've always had a wonderful community of friends who are in the LGBTQ+ community, people that I've grown up with in shows, gays and lesbians, and, later in life, my trans relatives and my niece. I've always had that community, but I've always felt like a sham because I wasn't being forthcoming with myself," he shared. "I've told myself in the past, also, nobody needs to know my personal business.

According to him, he had to break free for him to be happier and set an example for others like him to follow.

Personal Growth and Acceptance

According to Brady, before he attained this level of personal and mental growth there were times in his life when he felt an attraction to men, but never acted on those feelings because of "how I was raised," in his own words. 

But after accepting who he was he added; “I can be the best friend to Mandie, the best son to my mother, and one day, the best partner to someone because I’m doing this for me. Not dating yet though!, he told People, laughing. “I am single, but it’s not about being with someone right now. I’ve got some work to do.

Following his coking out many of his fans have come out to celebrate his bravery. The LGBTQ+ community has all applauded his honesty and has used his example to urge others to follow suit.

Pansexuality and its Meaning

According to WebMD, pansexuality is defined as the romantic, emotional, and/or sexual attraction to individuals without regard for their gender. In the same way as any person, a pansexual individual may have preferences when it comes to who they are attracted to; however, the gender of that individual does not influence their attraction.

Wayne Brady's Future and Advocacy

Wayne Brady has expressed his intentions to continue with the show “Let's Make A Deal” to become a better version of himself and although he had not made public any advocacy role in the LGTBQ community, he mentioned staying true to himself and creating opportunities for others like him to also come out from the box.
