Avengers: the most powerful characters

Avengers: the most powerful characters

From the time the original six stood in a row in midtown manhattan to save the planet from the Chitauri forces of Thanos and Loki, the Avengers have become an attraction of the pop culture spirit, not retelling how a blockbuster movie looks like but showing what the next decade would be like.

However, as the Avengers themselves have stayed a stronghold, what it is to be Avengers and the different heroes that make up the team have gone up and down, changing and revamping with every release.

With the entry of new characters like Wanda and Thanos, the ranking of the most powerful Avengers is so different from 10 years ago. Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) worked as a government agent throughout his life before becoming a member; Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, was knighted in the team after he went on a trip to outer space with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and also Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

Hulk

As Thor is somewhere else in the galaxy, Hawkeye and Hulk could be the last men from the original group of Avengers, which protected the Earth from Loki around this time next year. And since then, so much, including Hulk's power ranking within MCU, has changed.

A decade ago, in 2012's The Avengers, Hulk was placed as the ace-in-the-hole to fight against a cosmic army of Loki. However, as several new technologies, space beings, mystics, and ancients have entered the scene, Hulk's smashing is just an ordinary hammer in a world that now needs a crane-like superhero.

This has completely changed how the Avengers are fighting their war – with this, Hulk's rank as one of the most powerful has gone down. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda Maximoff not only made Hulk worthless but also weaponized him that too without even starting her witchcraft means.

Despite his lowered stature among his peers, Hulk is still one of MCU's most dangerous creatures due to his ability to fight with Thor and think like Tony Stark.

Shang-Chi

Chi (Simu Liu) is one of the recent additions to the list of most powerful Avengers of MCU. He has access to Ten Rings, an ancient [maybe alien as well] weapons controlled by telepathy. These weapons helped Mandarin (Tony Leung Chiu-Wal) remain in power for several centuries.

A weapon that sends a beacon to some unknown and probably equally powerful receiver. Combine these weapons and a man who is regarded as the best martial artist in the world; it culminates in ground-level skill with heavenly power, which immediately makes Shang-Chi a mighty hero.

Thor

Truly unfolding his potential in the movie Thor: Ragnarok, the Thunder God, played by Chris Hemsworth, established him further among the most powerful Avengers when he was shown as the ultimate game-changer in the last Avengers: Infinity War battle. A game changer that could have killed Thanos if Thor attacked his head.

The top 5 most powerful Avengers characters were shown on in What if…?'s seventh episode [that is canon, by the way] as he goes in one to one fight with Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, despite his intoxicated condition. Thor himself has claimed that he is around 1,500 years old and has killed two times as many enemies as that.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel has so much power that her original story movie was tactically placed in between two movies, i.e., Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, to not break the flow of the movies. Suppose Captain Marvel was part of the team that fought with Thanos on the n (Chris Pratt). We are so sure because of her borderline domination of complete Infinity Gauntlet-wielding Thanos.

Ant-Man

Although, on the surface, the potential to expand and shrink isn't so threatening, specifically when compared with the potential of ancient gods and other space-living aliens.

However, considering the amount of potential that comes with the Ant-Man suit, it becomes as strong as Scott Lang (Paul Rudd). Like Doctor Strange, Ant-Man's powers exist in zones other than that of Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and Thor.

This means that despite his major physical strength, there are power sets and zones with which the more combat-based creatures cannot compete. That's the reason why they didn't send Bruce Banner to handle a newly rascal Wanda Maximoff.

That is the basic nature of Ant-Man's argument – if it is being too small or big, getting messy with quantum realms or quantum physics, the scientific nature of his skills is too complicated a problem to be solved by any of the Avengers.

After all, technology was the leading component because it could undo the snap of Thanos. So, if this same technology was used as a weapon rather than scientifically, then we have no idea how far Ant-Man's time traveling potential can go.

As Doctor Strange is essential to combat the multiverse and mystical threats, Ant-Man will probably be significant against Kang. This gets him a good rank in not only the list of most powerful Avengers but also an important one.

Doctor Strange

Some fans may question Doctor Strange getting a better rank than Thor and Captain Marvel. But there is a reason for this! MCU had already shown how helpless Thor's strength becomes in front of Doctor Strange's more mental, magical skill set elements when the two crossed paths in the movie Thor: Ragnarok. No doubt, Thor is not combating, but the situation is fully under Strange's control, and we are forced to think about what will happen if the two get involved in combat.

Once we are done with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we are clear that Strange is powerful and a big threat to multiple universes. This makes him more powerful than Thanos as well because he can dream walk, inhibit dead bodies and even destroy universes.

The Scarlet Witch

Is she an Avenger or not isn't yet confirmed because of her role in Doctor Strange. But, her status as Earth's mightiest hero is confirmed. Only one more dangerous than the all-powerful Strange is someone who has nothing to lose, and that's where Wanda comes in, as she has lost her love and also their children.

No matter what and how her personal life is, Wanda Maximoff's superior potential was exclusively shown in the WandaVision finale Agatha Harkness of Kathyrn Hahn that Scarlet Witch's powers are better than that of Sorcerer Supreme. The fact is Doctor Strange would have failed to defeat Wanda without America Chavez (Xochiti Gomez), meaning Wanda's future rendition would be equally strong.
