A member of BTS has enlisted for military service.

The member of the boy band BTS is enlisting in the South Korean military following several years of moratorium. BIGHIT MUSIC, the group's label, announced on Sunday that J-hope had begun applying to terminate his postponement of enlistment. Until J-hope returns safely from military service, we would appreciate your continued love and support for him.

There are some special circumstances where men can defer until they are older, which several members of BTS have done in the past. Most Korean men must serve in the military for at least 18 months by age 28. The hit band's second member, J-Hope, enlisted two months after its oldest member, Jin, announced.

The announcement was made in a statement.

In an announcement earlier this month, Big Hit confirmed that all seven members of BTS will be completing their mandatory military service. During their "new chapter", BTS announced last year that members would release solo and group projects. RM, Jungkook, J-hope, Jin, V, Jimin, and Suga announced a temporary hiatus during the group's FESTA dinner in June. 

BTS will remain active as a team, but they will also take individual journeys toward personal growth, according to an announcement issued by HYBE, the agency responsible for representing the group, stating that the members would release solo albums and collaborate with other artists to express their individuality.

Personal growth is time-consuming.

"BTS now enters a whole new chapter with solo and group projects," said BIGHIT MUSIC's parent company at the time. As a group, BIGHIT MUSIC will actively support its artists throughout this transition period. Members will take this time to achieve personal growth through various new activities. Pitchfork also reported that the band is not on hiatus but will explore some solo projects in the coming months and remain active.
