Helen Lydia Mironoff was born in 1945 and turned 76 on the 26^th of July. She was a highly acclaimed British actress born in London in the UK in 1945. She was raised by an English mother, a Russian father, and two siblings, Katherine and Peter.

Helen called Popper!

Helen's early acting nickname was 'Little Mother Russia’ because of her heritage. According to the New Yorker, Helen called her Popper because she would pop off into a dream that sounds both too specific and too bizarre to be real.

Helen was a versatile actress who had a well-known face in the film industry in the US and the UK for her brilliant performances in dozens of movies and TV series like The Queen (2006), The Debt (2010), State of play (2009), Catherine the Great (2019), Prime Suspect (1991-96, 2003 and 2006) and many interesting movies.

Grew her Popularity!

Helen grew her popularity as she starred n Troilus and Cressida as Cressida in 1968 and Macbeth as Lady Macbeth in 1974. Helen joined renowned director Peter Brook after four years with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where his theater company toured the United States and Africa.

First movie!

Helen's first movie was director Michael Powell's Age of Constant (1969). The 22-year-old actress played Cora, a beautiful Queenslander, and muse of Australian painter Bradley Morahan.

Massive success!

The Madness of King George (1994) had massive success as Helen earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a supporting role, a BAFTA nomination for best performance by an actress, and a Cannes Film Festival win.

In this film, her role is played as Queen Charlotte brought her presence back to film following the height of her television fame with the prime suspect.

Dating Helen!

Helen dated for a decade with Taylor Hackford, 38, and in 1997 the two tied a knot in Scotland. In an interview, Helen says her director husband is the greatest love of her life.

In 1979, Hackford won a Best Short Film Oscar for Teenage Father and was nominated for Bes Achievement in Directing and Best Motion Picture of the year for the award-winning 2005 Ray Charles biopic, where Ray starred as Jamie Foxx.

Children of the couples!

More than 20 years of marriage life, Hackford shares two children from his previous marriage, sons Alexander and Rio, who died in April 2022.

Dame of the British Empire!

Helen was appointed as the Dame of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth in 2003. She would star in The Queen three years before and win her first Oscar for Best Actress.

Achievements of Helen!

She is the only person to complete the triple crown of acting in both US and the UK. She is an 11-time Emmy (4) won, 4-time Oscar (1), and 3-time Tony (1) nominee. She also won the British equivalent of the accolade by being awarded the BAFTA Film Award, the BAFTA Television Award, and the Laurence Oliver Award. She was also appointed Dame Commander of the order of the British Empire for her contribution to drama in 2003.
