Making a film is not an easy task. Filmmakers can turn imagination into reality. However, that does not come cheap, most of the times. Movies require a good amount of budget, and it's usually the huge budget movies that make it big at the box office. The production cost of some expensive movies is way more than many films earn. And, even though a huge sum of money is invested in a film project, some of them turn out to be flops. Well, after all, quality matters too.

Today, we have compiled a list of the most expensive films ever made in Hollywood. So, sit back and relax because some of the budgets will astonish you!

$237 Million - Avatar

Again, this is a no-brainer as well. The brilliant animation sure didn't come cheap. Director James Cameron went to another level for this project. He hired Weta Digital, a visual effects company that has won many Academy Awards. He turned the movie into something that the world has never seen before by creating excellent CGI. Not to forget, the cost of developing a new language and teaching that language to more than 100 actors, and on top of that the cost of the 3D glasses technology production – all of these added to the total production cost of the movie, which was a whopping $237 million!

$365 Million - Avengers: Age of Ultron

Okay, so allow me to let you in on this teeny tiny inside information about this movie. The cast demanded $5 million for their roles and a cut of the profits after the movie's release, or else they said they would quit. And that's why the budget of this movie became so high. Now, which director would want to lose such big names for his movie, right? Moreover, those CGI and cameras for the drone shots and those perfect location all contributed to the total production cost of the movie, which was $365 million.

 $260 Million - Tangled

The most shocking one on this list is the movie 'Tangled.' The major reason this movie is so expensive is that it took extremely long to get everything right. There were multiple attempts over the years, and they had to cancel everything after they got much ahead into the movie and then redo it again from scratch. So most of the budget went into redesigning the earlier versions of Rapunzel. And then there was the CGI, and they even tried to retain some characteristics of the actual Disney characters. This is no surprise. Hands down, one of the best movies ever made! Now, I am sure you folks won't disagree with me on this. All Jack Sparrow fans are fans of his beaded dreads and the eye-liner and all of his accessories. Well, all of that added up to the production cost amongst the others! One of the major expenditure was the salaries of the production team and actors. It is believed that Jack Sparrow (our very own Depp) himself got a whopping $55 million for this film.
