Sony launched its PlayStation brand in 1994, and since then, the company has released four major consoles, each with a new design.
After North America last week, Europe is now receiving Sony's updated PlayStation Plus membership service, which is being rolled out gradually.
For those wishing to increase their PlayStation collection, this adds three tiers with progressively more games.
Sony actually has more games than it had first claimed. Sony promised 400 PS4 and PS5 games on the Extra and Premium tiers when the PlayStation Plus game lineup was first revealed. In actuality, that number equals 429 games.
Retro games in PS Plus Premium are doing even better. Sony supplied 404 games instead of the initial 340 PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 titles promised. But as Eurogamer pointed out, the great majority of these games are PS3 games that are only accessible through cloud streaming.
Only a few free monthly games and online multiplayer capabilities are included in the $9.99/month for Essential tier. For $14.99, the Extra tier offers a selection of more than 400 PS4 and PS5 games. Additionally, at $17.99, the Premium tier includes cloud streaming and the Classics library.
Given that the old PS Plus card numbers no longer match up with the three-tier model, Sony should discontinue them at retailers in favor of more pliable PlayStation Store gift cards.
Additionally, it is said that some businesses have stopped accepting the outdated PlayStation Plus membership cards because they are incompatible with the new tiered scheme. To top off your account, you can instead purchase PlayStation gift cards.
While the majority of the PS Plus Premium Classics Catalog should remain available eternally, Red Dead Redemption has an oddly set expiration date of October.
