Across the United States, millions of people were in a deep freeze overnight, and early morning has killed at least 24 people.

Power outage!

Across the U.S., less than 300,000 customers were without power, down from a peak of 1.7 million. In North Carolina, less than 6000 customers had no power down from a peak of 485,000.

At Tampa International Airport, the thermometer plunged over freezing in Florida for the first time in almost five years.

Temperature drops!

In South Florida, temperatures dropped to 43 degrees in West Palm Beach, causing falling out of trees since the cold-blooded reptiles become immobilized in cold weather.
