Music has been a major part of Chrissy Metz's career for most of her life. Her first love of music was music even before she became famous with her role as Kate Pearson on the critically acclaimed television show 'This Is Us.'
Metz was a talent agent for pop stars like Ariana Grande before she became an actor and a member of a band called The Vapors. Metz described how her love of music began with a happy accident in an interview with Chubster.
Her fellow artist nudged her to start seriously pursuing her music while she was singing hooks and bridges for him. To establish her music collective, she explored the genres that she liked.
However, Metz explored other avenues to build a career in the music industry besides starting a band. Her audition for 'American Idol' wasn't quite as successful as she'd hoped, but she still wants to try again.
Chrissy Metz didn't initially consider joining 'American Idol,' but after managing talent for nearly a decade, she was 'desperate' to do something she loved. She told another source! Entertainment in 2020, 'I thought, 'I've got to try. This is such a massive opportunity.''
She tried, and she succeeded! She and her then-husband spent hours in the scorching sun waiting for their turn, and when they were finally up, she sang 'Heavy' from 'Dreamgirls,' which she later realized may not have been the best choice.
Despite being shot down, Metz contested the decision and grabbed the producers' attention. She added, 'I think they thought she was outspoken.' Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller invited her to sing in front of them, but she had a nagging sense they were only considering her for drama roles.
Her decision to walk away came at that moment. Her response explained that she couldn't have hacked it because she was too sensitive to handle it.
