After crashing into a Los Angeles residence and engulfing in flames on Friday, Anne Heche remains in intensive care.

'Anne is in the ICU, and she has severe burns that will take a long time to heal. Her family and team are still trying to figure out what happened,' a source close to Heche told CNN on Saturday.

On Friday, Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Jeff Lee told CNN that the vehicle ran off the road and collided with a residence.

A Los Angeles Fire Department paramedic transported Heche to a hospital in critical condition. The LAFD reported that firefighters spent more than an hour containing and extinguishing the stubborn flames within the heavily damaged structure.

Neither another injury nor a fatality was reported.'Our thoughts and prayers are with Anne, who is presently in stable condition. Please respect her privacy during this difficult time.'

Heche has yet to be questioned by authorities about the circumstances of the incident, a law enforcement source told CNN on Saturday. An LAPD spokesperson told CNN Saturday night that the police are investigating the crash as well as a previous 'misdemeanor hit-and-run' incident.

As of Saturday evening, Heche was still in hospital and officers were unable to interview her due to her serious injuries. On Friday, Heche released a new episode of her podcast, 'Better Together,' but it has since been taken down from Apple Podcasts' website.

As part of the podcast, Heche talks about drinking vodka and wine, having a 'bad day' and drinking wine with Heather Duffy. It is unclear when the podcast was recorded. To get a response from Heche's representatives, CNN has reached out to them.

According to Heche in the podcast, today was a very unique day. Occasionally days just don't feel so good and I don't know if you ever feel that way, but Mama says some days are just like that, and things don't rock me like that. And I don't know why sometimes days end up like this, and things don't rock me like that.'

Heche gained fame playing twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the soap opera 'Another World' from 1987 to 1991 and won a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance. Afterward, she made movies such as 'Donnie Brasco,' 'Six Days Seven Nights,' and 'Wag the Dog.'

As a result of her romance with Ellen DeGeneres in the late 1990s, Heche gained intense media attention, which frustrated her professional career. Heche spoke about being 'blacklisted' after revealing their relationship in a 2021 interview with Page Six.'After dating DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, I didn't do a studio picture for ten years,' said Heche.
