The Biden administration's first state dinner was held on Thursday. President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr Gilles Biden greeted French President Emmanuel Macron and his partner, Brigitte Macron, at the White House as their first state guests since 2021.
At the event, the First Lady was spotted in a custom-made, hand-embroidered floral navy crepe gown that reflected the night's red, white, and blue theme and represented both the U.S. and French flags.
Brigette also honoured the night's theme of unity in a long-sleeved, ivory-coloured dress with silver embellishments.
Both presidents chose to wear similar black tuxedos at the event and discussed Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine and ways to improve international partnerships between France and the United States.
He is extremely happy and honoured to be there for the first state visit of your administration. And this is the best proof of this, indeed, a very long-term friendship and partnership.
This is exactly the basis of our relationship,' said President Macron during the president's joint remarks.
According to the White House, special guests were treated to an upscale menu that included buttered Maine lobster, American Ossetra caviar, and award-winning American cheeses.
The dessert menu included French twists on American classics such as Orange Chiffon Cake, Roasted Pear with Citrus Sauce and Crème Fraiche Ice Cream.
