GOP Senate Republicans are worried that Donald Trump's strange behavior is giving GOP rivals a chance to run against him in a presidential primary in 2024.
The GOP lawmakers say that Trump's chances of winning a primary are getting worse after he made a series of mistakes that hurt himself.
People say that he has made them wonder if he could beat Joe Biden or any other Democrat in a general election.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) also said that Trump's recent mistakes could make his Republican opponents more likely to think that he is an easy candidate to beat in the 2024 primary.
'I'm sure half the Senate is seriously thinking about it,' he joked about his colleagues who were thinking about running for the White House.
Sens. Rick Scott (Fla.) and Tom Cotton (Ark. ), who was also thought to be thinking about running for president, have also said they will not run.
The Kentucky Republican said that antisemitism and white supremacy have no place in the Republican Party.
'I think the American public knows that on the Republican side, if we want to win a general election, we need someone who can beat Joe Biden or another Democrat, and it's clear that there are better choices out there that have a better chance of actually winning a general election' than Trump, he said.
