Why Barbie made more money

Last weekend both the films reached the $1.18 billion and $650 million mark. Barbie has made more money due to the fact that it is targeting an audience of a larger age group the genre being drama and satire comedy conversely, Oppenheimer being an R-rated film is a three-hour-long historical drama thriller narrating a story from the past. Hence Barbie was able to reach a wider audience. Both movies did spectacularly well in this 2023 movie summer season.

Lessons Hollywood should learn

The simultaneous release of both films proved that only superhero and action genres aren't the only ones ruling the box office. Counterprogramming and marketing strategy to work as a team is way smarter than one movie versus another rival approach.
