Anne Heche crashes into a home and ignites fire; actress suffers severe burns

During Friday's crash, actress Anne Heche ignited a fire in her Mar Vista, California, home. According to emergency responders, she was transported to a hospital in critical condition.  

When Heche, 53, first crashed into an apartment complex garage, she was driving a blue Mini Cooper. Before the actress fled, witnesses told according that they tried to help her out of her car.

FOX 11 reports that Heche crashed into a nearby home in Mar Vista shortly after her first crash, igniting a fire. An ambulance transported Heche to a Los Angeles hospital after the fire engulfed the house.

As a result of the accident, a person in critical condition has been transferred to a hospital, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department. 

When the accident occurred at the home, a resident was present and escaped injury. While on a stretcher, Heche was conscious and breathing despite suffering burn injuries.

A hospital is intubating the 'Six Days Seven Nights' star, according to TMZ.In a statement, the Los Angeles Fire Department said a 1952 two-story home was struck by a vehicle with a single occupant inside. 

According to the statement, 51 firefighters took 65 minutes to contain and extinguish the flames inside the heavily damaged structure. One female adult was found inside the vehicle and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition by LAFD paramedics.

Heche's condition prevented doctors from performing tests to determine whether she was driving under the influence. FOX 11 reports that there were no other injuries in the crash, and the cause is being investigated.

In helicopter footage, the fire department extinguished the blaze and loaded Heche into an ambulance for further treatment. Fox 11's commentator described the horrific crash. 

A sterile sheet is often applied to burn victims to cool them. After that, video footage shows Heche abruptly sitting up as firefighters rush her to an ambulance.

She starred alongside Thora Birch, Amy Smart, and Will Peltz in the action film '13 Minutes.' Meanwhile, she recently stood up for her friend Alec Baldwin after the public criticized him for his 'Rust' interview.

Heche wrote on Baldwin's Instagram post: 'I am with you no matter what happens in our lives.' 'I know how kind your heart is.'Heche and ex-husband James Tupper divorced in January 2018. Their son, Atlas, 13, is the result of 10 years of marriage.

From 1997 to 2000, the 'Volcano' actress dated Ellen DeGeneres. During the 1997 premiere of 'Volcano,' she brought the talk show host along. This led to her being 'blacklisted' from Hollywood.

I didn't do a studio picture for 10 years,' she told Page Six. After being fired from a $10 million deal, I never worked on a studio picture again.
