The tryouts for America's Got Talent have resumed after a brief hiatus, but Howie Mandel is not on the judging panel
Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara returned with their red buzzers for week six of the auditions, assessing some of America's hottest new talent
Incredible singers, jaw-dropping magicians, dancers, and more entertained the audience. Unfortunately, Mandel was unable to witness the entire event live on stage
Fans of America's Got Talent need not fret; Howie Mandel will return for future episodes of the reality show
The show was taped a few months earlier, and Mandel returned to work after he felt better
Mandel made it a point to inform fans that he will be absent from the most recent program, which aired on NBC
He also uploaded a photo of Vergara, Klum, and Cowell gathering around the judge's desk with presenter Terry Crews. 'Where's Howie?' Mandel captioned the photo
Despite missing the auditions, Mandel made sure to see the program when it aired on television. He even discussed what he missed with America's Got Talent viewers
Mandel was a great admirer of the J-pop duo Travis Japan, who wowed the crowd and judges with their all-singing, all-dancing performance of 'My Dreamy Hollywood'
Crews revealed to the live audience in that episode, 'Howie Mandel isn't feeling well, so he won't be here tonight,' and explained that the performers would need two out of three yes votes to continue to the next round
Howie subsequently revealed on Twitter that he was absent from the show because he had COVID during the time of taping in April 2022
America's Got Talent airs auditions in the order in which they are filmed, therefore his absence from the July 12 program might have been due to his absence from work with COVID
Furthermore, Mandel may be absent from a future audition episode depending on how the program has been edited
After recuperating from COVID, he told People that seclusion had a bad influence on his mental health
