In the latest signatures, the 'Justice for Johnny Depp' Change.org petition has reached a new milestone. By the time this article was written, over 780,530 signatures had been collected, and the benchmark had reached 1 million.
Depp's goal in launching the petition is to get him back to what he does best, and that goal is also tied to some exciting career information. While Depp was engaged in a lengthy legal battle with Amber Heard, he remained in Dior's face.
With a prime-time TV statement, Dior announced its continued support of Johnny Depp after he won the majority of the monetary amount in the countersuit against Heard. Depp has recently reunited Hollywood Vampires with a reunion show scheduled for later this year.
In addition, he filmed a film role in France for the first time since the more high-profile roles he had are probably in the past, although he is gaining some momentum in his career.
Jack Sparrow, where Depp starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in the 1990s, hasn't seemed interested in returning to Disney.
He has also moved on from his role as Grindelwald, filled by Mads Mikkelsen. Similarly, Pirates seems to be developing a new storyline and a new cast, while the future of that franchise is also unclear.
However, Depp and Heard remain highly sought after. Recently, the petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 has gained the most traction of all the petitions that saw traction during the defamation trial.
The number of downloads is approaching 5 million. As of this writing, several new signers have been added to the tally, but signee numbers aren't churning out at the same pace they were a few months ago.
