Prince Harry got an early stage win in his lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday.
A London High Court judge cleared the way for the Prince to take his libel claims for trial. The judge ruled that an article in Mail on Sunday talked about Harry's legal battle with the British government over his police protection there was defamatory.
The Duke of Sussex is suing th Associated Newspaper for libel on an article accusing him of not revealing details of his legal fight to get his police protection again back in the UK secret.
The concerned article was published in print and online also in February. Its title was 'How Harry tried to keep his legal fight over bodyguards'.
According to Justice Nicklin, parts of the article were defamatory. He said that the concerned article as a whole was not suggesting that the Prince wanted to keep his legal battle a secret. But the headline suggests so if it is read alone.
The lawyers of Prince Harry on Thursday asked permission for a judicial review from judge Nicklin against a Home Office that prevents Harry from paying for police protection when he and his family is in the UK.
Earlier, Dutchess of Sussex received a symbolic amount of $1.36 in damages from the same newspaper, Mail, on Sunday. She won a legal case against the paper as it published a personal letter that Meghan Markle wrote to her father.
The UK newspaper will also pay an unspecified sum to Markle as the paper infringed her copyright by publishing her letter. This sum will be donated to the charity.
Meghan Markle said after winning the case that the victory wasn't just for her but for all who ever felt afraid of standing for themselves.
