Leigh-Ann Pinnock, Stormzy, Alison Hammond, and Sir Mo Farah are among those shortlisted for the 2022 Ethnicity Awards

In addition to Sir Mo Farah, other famous faces have been nominated for the 2022 Ethnicity Awards. This year's ceremony, in partnership with HSBC UK, will recognize the Olympic gold medalist with the Sports Personality award.

An expose of Sir Mo's traumatic childhood sent shockwaves throughout the UK after a groundbreaking documentary aired last week.

According to the BBC documentary The Real Mo Farah, Sir Mo was trafficked to the UK illegally under the name of another child and initially treated like a servant by his foster parents.

Among the recipients of the Ethnicity, awards are individuals who have excelled in advancing equal opportunity and equality for Black, Asian, and minority ethnic groups.

According to the documentary, Sir Mo Farah's birth name is Sir Mo Farah and he has been nominated for the Sports Personality award.

Several celebrities have been nominated for this year's awards, including musicians Dave, Emeli Sande, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Stormzy, TV personality Alison Hammond, and British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful.

Edward is one of six nominees in the Burberry Inspirational Public Figure category, including Little Mix's Leigh-Anne, actors Maya Rudolph, Dev Patel, and Golda Rosheuvel, as well as Marvel's Letitia Wright and Simu Liu.

As part of the Presenter, Journalist, or Host category, Alison is nominated along with Krishnan Guru-Murthy of Channel 4 and Clive Myrie of the BBC.

The public service or campaigner category includes Baroness Sayeeda Warsi and Professor Jonathan Van Tam, who became household names during the pandemic.

Sarah Garrett MBE, the founder of the Ethnicity Awards, stated: 'These awards are intended to highlight the individuals, organizations, and charities that are striving to make the world a better place for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities.'

There are still racist abuses at sporting events, racial profiling in fashion, regressive views in politics, and stereotyping across the board, to name but a few problems.

It should be noted, however, that every nominee here has used their platforms to bring attention to issues affecting Black, Asian, and minority communities. I, therefore, congratulate all those on the shortlist. You have all worked hard to advance equality and promote opportunities.

'I'm looking forward to celebrating with you at the Ethnicity Awards.'These nominations mark Alison's second consecutive year at the Ethnicity Awards. The Shout Out To My Ex-singer received a commendation in 2021 for her documentary Race, Pop, and Power.

She discussed her experience as Little Mix's only Black member and a Black woman in the music industry in the documentary. An award was also given to the England football team last year after they took the knee during Euro 2020 to protest racism in football.
