A handful of Instagram users, including Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, have complained about a recent redesign of the platform, which the company's head called just a 'test.'The changes to the platform were explained in a video by Adam Mosseri about concerns over the new, full-screen feed.

There will be a few test users out there, and we're hoping a more full-screen experience, whether for video or photos, might provide a bit more fun and engagement. The situation is not yet good,' I would like to be clear. Jenner and Kardashian re-shared a post on Instagram that said, 'Make Instagram cool again' the day before he posted the video.

“Illuminati's post, originally shared by photographer Illuminati, stated, 'Stop trying to be TikTok.'. “I’m just looking for cute pictures of my friends to see. The post has more than 1.7 million likes as of Tuesday afternoon. Content creators are also concerned about Instagram's increased size of photos and videos, which they see as making the platform similar to TikTok's 'full-screen' experience.

It has even led to some users threatening to leave the app. Despite acknowledging the platform will always support pictures, Mosseri noted the platform is now increasingly showing users videos, including Reels, which are similar to TikTok videos. As Meta faces considerable challenges in its advertising and monetization efforts, Facebook recently redesigned the social network to take on TikTok.

Most users have been disappointed with this latest update, saying they're frustrated with the amount of video they're seeing on an app that focuses on photos. Further, many people are frustrated by the fact that they no longer see the accounts they follow on their homepage, while those they do follow still appear in their feeds.

Due to Jenner's endorsement or lack thereof on social media platforms in the past, the Instagram post about the update garnered even more attention. After a redesign, Jenner tweeted in February 2018 that she would no longer be using Snapchat. After the tweet, Snap's shares fell 7%, losing its market capital by more than $1 billion.

According to Mosseri, Instagram is aware of the need to improve the update before making it available to a wider audience. Despite concerns that Instagram is moving away from images, he said that images still play an important role in Instagram's heritage. The platform is, however, now seeing an increase in video consumption and sharing, according to Mosseri.

He said, 'I do believe Instagram will become more and more video-based over time.' 'Even if nothing changes, we see this happening.'The Instagram redesign has not been panned for the first time. After a vertical scrolling homepage changed to a horizontal 'tap-to-advance' format in December 2018, the company changed its homepage to a vertical scrolling one.

The backlash was intense, and the vertical format of the feed was later changed back. The redesign was also described as a test by Mosseri at the time.“It was supposed to be a small test, but we went broader than expected,” he tweeted. Also owned by Meta, Facebook has morphed into something more like TikTok.

A redesign of Meta's mobile app will begin this month, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. There will be more looping videos in the user's feed, but he or she can also choose what kind of feed they want to see. Among their options, they can choose the main feed, a feed of only their friends' posts, or a feed focused on groups.

Cloudflare, a web performance and security company, ranked TikTok as the most downloaded app in 2021. Meta owns three platforms, including the video platform.
