The Jewish comedian was once expelled from school after he mimicked impersonating a school official to hire a construction crew who was involved in construction at the school.
Initially, he worked as a carpet salesman and then began to work as a stand-up comedian at Yuk Yuks in Toronto. By 1978, his show was fully booked, which was called 'a wild and crazy borderline psychotic.
Later, he became a regular performer at the Comedy Store in LA before landing his first film role in 1980.
Ever since, he has appeared in various films, documentaries, and TV shows, including the cult horror Gremlins.
Since 2010, Howie Mandel has been a judge on America's Got Talent and is now considered the longest-tenured judge on the show. He also became one of the judges on Canada's Got Talent and the host of Deal or No Deal.
Since 1980, he has been married to Terry Mandel, as they both met while at the YMCA in Toronto as teens before marrying years later.
