Blonsky's career

Blonsky vividly portrayed Tracy's dynamism and passion alongside a strong supporting cast. Since then, she has played the lead character Willamena Rader on the NBC comedy Smash and had a recurring role on the former ABC Family series Huge.

15th anniversary of Hairspray

Blonsky had an exclusive interview to mark the 15th anniversary of Hairspray. Blonsky mentioned that she and a friend have been working on a very interesting passion project as she reflected on her recollections of the popular show.

It appears quite likely that this screenplay is actually another musical, despite the fact that she was careful not to give away too much.

Another notable cast

Along with Efron and Travolta, other notable actors that appeared in Hairspray included Michelle Pfeiffer, Amanda Bynes, Queen Latifah, and Brittany Snow. Blonsky's performance was all the more astounding because she was still in high school, had no acting or singing experience, and had to audition for the part with a large ensemble.

Working hard

There is no denying that Blonsky excels at singing and dancing, even though many of her roles since Hairspray have been outside of the musical genre. She's been working hard to build this musical from the ground up, so it would be incredible if she could star in another one.

Hairspray sequel

A sequel to Hairspray that would have seen Blonsky return to the role of Tracy was almost made. That, however, was never fulfilled. Theatergoers and movie aficionados alike are thrilled by the prospect of Blonsky returning to musicals.

Blonsky's promise of "brilliant" songs makes it seem like this mystery project might be as good as Hairspray in terms of quality and music. It would be wonderful to see Blonsky in a leading role like Hairspray once more.

Blonsky hopes to realize his ambition, but only time will tell if this screenplay ever gets to the production stage. It's time to speak up if the fans of Hairspray want to see it happen.
