Peacock wants to reclaim some of the initiative in this summer's weird but irrefutable cultural revival of the erstwhile USA courtroom drama Suits. The Gina Torres-starring spinoff Pearson, whose rights had not previously been readily accessible to the baying Suits hounds on the internet, has now been acquired by the streaming service.

About the character Pearson!

Pearson followed a powerful lawyer named Jessica Pearson as she waded into the dark world of Chicago politics. Torres, a previous mothership series star, played the lead character. Also included are Bethany Isabel Arraiza, Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantel Riley, Simon Kassianides, and Eli Goree. The Season 7 conclusion of Suits, where Pearson first appeared, functioned as a covert pilot for the spinoff. Aaron Korsh, who created Suits and acted as its executive producer Torres, Suits EP Daniel Arkin, who served as the showrunner and Suits executive producers Doug Liman, David Bartis, and Gene Klein of Hypnotic all served as executive producers on the spinoff, which Universal Cable Productions produced.

After Pearson, the short-lived Suits spinoff, became an unexpected hit on Netflix this summer, Peacock is trying to draw some attention to it. Today, the NBCUniversal streaming service launched the Gina Torres-starring program. The spinoff, which is not on Netflix, is hoped to be discovered by new Suits fans. 2019 Pearson had a single season on the cable network until it was canceled a month later. With this move, NBCU hopes to attract some Netflix customers who may have binge-watched (or are now binge-watching) its parent program Suits, which has spent six weeks at the top of the Nielsen ratings. The show set a Nielsen streaming record for acquired content earlier this summer, attracting 3.1 billion viewing minutes from June 26 to July 2 on Netflix and Peacock. After being uploaded to Netflix, the program's first season received 27.7M hours of viewing time on June 19 and spent many weeks in the top 10 of that streaming service. However, don't anticipate any additional spinoffs shortly. Aaron Korsh, the creator of Suits, reportedly stated that nothing was in the works.
