Father Gabriele Amorth And The Movie The Pope’s Exorcist Inspired By The Chief Exorcist Of The Vatican In The Late 1980s

Exorcist of the Vatican, Father Gabriele Amorth claimed to have performed over 100.00 exorcisms before he died in 2016. He performed a service that may have been seen particularly in horror movies but not in real life, Father Gabriel Amorth worked as an official Exorcist of Vatican City. Starring Russel Crowe, the movie 'The Pope's Exorcist' is based on his life story, released in cinema houses last week. 

During World War II, Father Amorth joined the Italian Resistance, he was born in Modena, Italy, in 1925. Before becoming a priest in 1951, he worked as a journalist and earned a law degree. He wrote the book Exorcist Tells His Story in 1990, which became a best-seller, and the book was translated into 30 different languages. He wrote in his book, “It is thanks to movies that we find a renewed interest in exorcisms.”  Amorth agreed with the religion on this point, scholar Michael Cuneo, argued "The Exorcist" a 1973 film is responsible for revitalizing exorcism and made a comeback due to the horror movies. During this time he also founded the International Association of Exorcists and it still exists in present times

Father Gabriele Amorth named "The Exorcist" as his favorite film, says, “Of course, the special effects are exaggerated. But it is a good film, and substantially exact, based on a respectable novel which mirrored a true story.”⁠ . 

Father Gabriele Amorth was appointed as an assistant to Cardinal Ugo Poletti, later he succeeded as the chief exorcist to the diocese of Rome and remained in the same position till his death. According to the statement of association, by Catholic News Agency's Kevin J. Jones says, "This way of narrating Don Amorth’s experience as an exorcist, in addition to being contrary to historical reality, distorts and falsifies what is truly lived and experienced during the exorcism of truly possessed people.”Father Amorth attracted controversies by saying Harry Potter books and Yoga can cause demonic possession.

The Pope's Exorcist revolves around 1980 and is based on Father Amorth Gabriele's life events of Exorcism, he is very good at his job and a young boy named Henry is possessed by a demon Asmodeous, the film is about good vs evil.

In Christianity Exorcism has a long history, it is founded on the belief that commanded his followers to expel evil spirits, jinn, or other malevolent spiritual creatures from human beings or an area, which are believed to be possessed by them.
