Blue beetle has had an exciting pre-release welcome as its trailer has not only immersed chills but also made us mark the calendar for its premiere on August 18. It is a character that dates back to 1932. Recently, that role comes with goods and chattels more than it did before – as a creative team has come up with their own twist on its name and its relevance. 

I know when you think of Scarab you think of it as a creature that can eat people. But when it comes to blue beetles, this is not one among the terrifying creatures you thought to exist.

The scarab is a foundation of James Reyes original story Blue beetle.  The scarab is a piece of alien technology and The Reach are the alien race that uses it. The Reach are known for their conventional method of conquering the planets for their own gain. The primary role of the scarab is to attach itself to a host and harness the biotechnology power that will take over the planets. 

The Reach have a gestalt-intelligence with technology that is incomparable from anyone or anything on earth. They have negotiators who choose the planets to be conquered and commanders who lead the quest. However, the legendary green corp lads – a group determined to protect the universe from any kind of evil, were able to stop the Reach from expanding their reach. But instead of the Reach taking the planets by themselves, they decided to create Scarabs to act as their weapons.

Where do the Scarab Harness their Power? Who is Khaji Da?

While the comic character Blue beetle has been around since 1932, it was not until the 1960 that his powers were linked to a scarab. The original Blue beetle in the 1960s was modified to Dan Garett finding a sacred Egyptian scarab artifact and upon saying Kaji Dah, he was granted powers. 

However, in the late 1960s Ted Kord took over the Blue beetle and did not use the scarab at all. Then later in 2006, Jaime Reyes took over the Blue beetle with Khaji Da referring to the Scaraba’s serial number or personal name instead of a magical term.

The Reach scarab’s are genetically transformed living weapons that are used as parasitic technology. They attach themselves to an organic host and harness their powers. The scarab gives the user special abilities such as speed, strength and the ability to fly. This scarab can also create materials such as swords, shields or energy blasts.
