Fiction debut A first-time novelist made her fiction debut at 70. She wrote once in lifetime thriller, which suddenly became a best-selling behemoth. Later on, Reese Witherspoon chose it for her book club. Where the Crawdads Sing Delia Owens wrote the novel in 2018. It is the story of Kya, who grew up in North Carolina all by herself after her parents abandoned her. She is accused of murder when she becomes a young lady. The movie is produced by Reese Witherspoon, with Olivia Newmoon actively involved. The movie is set to premiere on 15 July.

The past Owens history has an ugly history. Her past has an unsolved murder leading to scrutiny, similar to Kya. That has cast a shadow on her success and her life as well.
