“CODA” Makes An History

"CODA," which stands for "Child of deaf adults." “CODA” is the Best Picture nomination for Apple TV+. It’s also the first movie featuring a predominantly deaf cast to secure that nomination.  “CODA” is written and directed by Sian Heder, produced by Vendome Pictures and Pathe, and combined with Philippe Rousselet, Fabrice Gianfermi, Patrick Wachsberger, and Jerome Seydoux and also Ardavan Safaee, and Sarah Borch-Jacobsen as executive producers.

CODA is a comedic drama based on the French Film La Famille Belier, which tells the story of Ruby (Emilia Jones). Heder first cast Marlee Matlin in CODA. The film’s financiers resisted casting deaf actors for the remaining deaf characters during the development process. But "CODA" failed to be nominated for best original song.
