High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (HSMTMTS) is one of the best shows on T.V. right now. This young cast does not just sing. They all have great comedic timing. The writing in the series has never been better. I am so glad this show is in our lives.

Episode 4 starts with the Wildcats team rehearsing Sharpay's "Fabulous" from High School Musical 2 and preparing for Corbin Bleu to return.

Just when they think Corbin has arrived, it is just E.J. Boy, is he in a mood? When Gina asks where Corbin Bleu is, he snaps, "I do not know. Gina is a finer woman than me because that would have pushed me over the edge. Perhaps your secret late-night hiking buddy Ricky knows, huh?" Ricky tries to brush it off; however, Ashlyn knows drama when she sees it.

'Fabulous' Is Fabulous!

They all want to impress Corbin Bleu with an elaborate musical number that is undeniably "Fabulous." Carlos sings Sharpay's part effortlessly. Ashley Tisdale will be so proud. Kourtney has her sassy moment in the performance. Give us a Kourtney solo, HSMTMTS!

The following day, everyone is equipped for the first Frozen read-through and Corbin's actual arrival. E.J. Boy's stress level has hit a new high. You can sense the tension in his voice. Corbin eventually shows up, and Kourtney's gone to great lengths to impress the HSM alum.

Gina tells E.J. Boy that she got called to the office. Her mother is moving back to Salt Lake City! Gina and E.J. will be neighbors for his gap year; at least, that's what Gina thinks. Turns out that E.J. got a letter from his father, who is not okay with the gap year plan and wants to send him to Caswell Success Training School in St. Louis. He will not tell Gina until he finds a way out of having to go. Because that plan always works out.

Corbin's producer, Channing, thinks the kids are too nice to each other. He can smell the drama. "Chip away at those cracks, and you have gold," Channing tells Corbin. The angst will last only ten days until opening night, which is Ricky's 18th birthday.

Speaking of anxiety, Ashlyn is persuaded that Val hates her because she was put on the crew. Ashlyn still manages with her Leo Rising discovery. Corbin and Channing try to whip up drama at the read-through. But Ricky stresses that the "jealous in-fighting" is not this crew. E.J. also adds that this is a "drama-free zone."

During the read-through, everyone acknowledges that Jet is gone. Maddox admits that Jet is going to be just good. Carlos, who claims to have a perfect "straight dar," thinks Maddox and Jet are crushing on each other.

Val discovers that Jet has vacated the camp. Therefore, somebody else needs to sing "Love Is An Open Door" instead of Jet with Gina. Quickly, Ricky volunteers because it is the only song from Frozen he knows. He says he is "happy to jump in." Ricky is lovely in trying not to be obvious while simultaneously being the most obvious.

Corbin tells Ricky it is unnecessary, and E.J. Boy chimes in, "Stay in your lane, Bowen." Gina gives E.J. Boy a look that says, why are you jealous? Corbin tells E.J. that he seems like a "1980s villain" and has him sing with Gina. "Villains equal viewers," Corbin says. He is not wrong.

Jealous Ricky!

E.J. and Gina sing "Love Is An Open Door" in the costumes and everything. This is the duo we love. They are just so pretty! Meanwhile, Ricky appears hella jealous. "She is amazing," Ricky says when Corbin asks his suggestion, and then he hastily follows up that E.J. was, too. Ricky has been caught!!!! He went out of the room before anyone had a chance even to react.

Following a playful back and forth, Gina begins reading Ricky's "bucket list" he is trying to complete before turning 18. They were still messing around when E.J. saw them. Quickly, he runs off, further scratching that itch in the back of his mind that there's something more to Ricky and Gina's friendship.

Sidebar: Look, Ricky has feelings for Gina beyond friendship. We do not condone cheating in this house; Ricky has yet to act on those feelings. Whether this is flirting or just playful joshing amongst pals is up to you to decide for now.

E.J. Boy runs off to talk with Val and spills the beans about his father. Val advises him to have these conversations with Gina. Ya know, his girlfriend. He quips that she is "busy with someone else." E.J., you have the girl. Stop being in your head about everything! Gina finds E.J. and feels like she interrupted something between him and Val, but she doesn't say anything.

Following the rehearsal, Val announces a movie night to watch High School Musical 3. Corbin says, "Fun fact, weirdly never saw that one." Carlos is horrified, as he should be. Gina noted that Kourtney was not feeling 100% on the way out. Gina asks Val if they can talk. Val feels Gina is going to ask about E.J.; however, Gina wants to ask to watch Camp Rock for Kourtney. Val does not say anything about what is going on with E.J. Val tells Gina, "You are a good pal and girlfriend. I can tell."

'Is This Actually About Gina?':

Jet shows back up at camp just before the screening. Jet attempts to brush off his absence, but Val is not letting him get away with it. She gives him a tough time about abandoning the crew. It is about time someone dressed Jet down for his less-than-stellar behavior.

While screening, Ashlyn vents to Maddox about Val. Maddox admits, "The way Ashlyn's talking about Val sounds a lot like the way I used to talk about Madison."

Meanwhile, Gina points in front of E.J. that she does not do well with liars. E.J. begins bugging out. Ricky notices something is up and goes back to the cabin. He finds Jet there. Like Val, Ricky tells Jet that everyone is counting on him but specifically mentions Gina. Ricky says, "She finally got the lead. It means a lot."

Jet then turns the tables on Ricky and asks, "Are you actually this upset that I took, or is this really about Gina?". Ricky did not expect such a confrontation about his feelings for Gina. "I just want what is best for her. She is my friend," Ricky tells Jet, who does not think that is necessarily the truth. Ricky gets defensive. "You do not know the full story," he says before walking out.

Gina Makes An Incredible Discovery:

While everyone is watching the film, Kourtney sneaks off to FaceTime with her mom. Kourtney is homesick and has anxiety, which is an understandable feeling at any age. Kourtney admits, "I should be having a great time." Her mother gives her some words of advice. "You feel how you feel," her mother says. Kourtney wonders if she should talk to someone about her anxiety. Her mother promises she will be there for whatever Kourtney needs.

E.J. goes to find Gina at her cabin. He runs into Corbin and the producer. They give him a big fat warning. The Camp Shallow Lake kids need to display all the juicy drama. Spill all the tea. "Without that, we do not have a show, Corbin says.”This may not be the right group for this project."

E.J. 1.0 is about to make a comeback! E.J. vows not to let Gina or his friends down. "If you need drama, I can get you drama," he promises Corbin.

When Gina finds her script, she stumbles upon the letter from E.J.'s dad. Gina asks Val if she knows about the letter. E.J. will have to face the wrath of someone who hates being lied to, but he has it coming. He is not going to have to try very hard for drama. He had much time to tell Gina!
