At The Age Of 70, Guitarist Lasse Wellander Passed Away

In a recent statement, ABBA announced that 70-year-old guitarist Lasse Wellander had passed away. His family shared a statement on Facebook saying Wellander died on Friday from cancer. They described him as "a dear friend, a fun guy, and a superb guitarist." ABBA's Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, and Frida Lyngstad paid tribute to the musician. We could not have recorded without his creative input and fantastic guitar work on stage," said the band.

In 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1980, Wellander toured with ABBA as the band's main guitarist. Wellander contributed to "Crazy World," his first contribution to an ABBA song, and "Intermezzo No. 1" are two of his early works. In addition to Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and he also appeared on Voyage from ABBA in 2021.
