Former Federal Express employee Jackson was a dump-truck driver before becoming a reality star. His obituary mentions that his greatest accomplishment was raising his two grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He enjoyed the notoriety of appearing on Showtime's "Queer Eye" and told anyone who would listen about his experiences.

Two sisters, two grandsons and extended family will survive Tom along with his two grandsons. The Jackson family expressed their gratitude to Kennestone Hospital's medical staff for their compassionate care. During his obituary, the family wrote, "Tom brought joy, humour, persistence, and love to our family.

We are grateful for him and anticipate seeing him again one day." In Kennesaw, Georgia, he will be remembered at a memorial service on March 12. His family requests that fans watch his episode of Queer Eye on Netflix instead of sending flowers.
