As if in a film, the Top Gun: Maverick star, 60, appeared on a mountainside via chopper, said a few nice words to a couple of bystanders, and then charmingly glided off a cliff into the void.

Tom Cruise allegedly touched down on High Crag in the English Lake District via chopper, where Penrith, U.K. duo Jason Haygarth and Sarah were hiking with their canine, Edward. Tom Cruise seemed to have addressed them as though this were normal.

As per The U.S. Sun, Tom said, "Sorry for disturbing your peaceful walk with all the noise."

Tom added, "I like your dog." Sarah then asked, "Are you going to jump off there?" As he ran toward the edge, Tom indicated that he was. He shouted as he gracefully leaped off the cliff in full paragliding gear, "See you later, folks."

The surreal scene was captured on video. It has been assumed that he was filming scenes for a seventh installment in the Mission: Impossible series of films.

Other pictures showed the exuberant duo smiling as a black helicopter hovered above the mountainside.

Sarah allegedly told the outlet that the Risky Business icon was "as cool as a cucumber" as he flung himself off the cliff. At the same time, Jason noted, "Before this, the most famous person I ever met was English journalist Richard Madeley."

He also said that he saw Tom in a bathroom, adding, "This tops that by a country mile."

Tom is famous for doing his stunts in films like Top Gun and the Mission: Impossible franchise.

As per Screesnrant, in an interview on the Graham Norton Show, 2013, Tom explained why it's important to him to perform his stunt work. "It has to do with storytelling," he said. "It lets us to put cameras in places that you are not normally able to do."
