AThe Riverdale Actor Opens Up About The Show's Final Season

Based on the Archie comics, the long-running Riverdale series is ending in season 7, and KJ Apa spoke with us about the final season. Throughout the series, Apa played Archie Andrews, the central figurehead of the series, and he went through multiple character arcs.

He reveals sadness

The town of Riverdale, which will begin season 7 in the 1950s, is sent back to the 1950s following the destruction of Bailey's Comet in season 6, episode 22. The series finally ends with Riverdale, and Apa reveals how he feels about it to TV Insider.

His comments about the show's end were emotional and hinted at a wild finale that was only fitting for Riverdale. In revealing his sadness at leaving Riverdale behind, Apa highlights how he has been deeply involved in the series since he first played Archie in 2017.

He wears a comic book-inspired outfit

Archie has played various roles in the long-running CW series, including leading The Dark Circle vigilante group and serving in the armed forces. The sixth season saw Archie pursue a football coach and a volunteer firefighter to stop Bailey's Comet.

In the season 6 finale, however, Riverdale and its inhabitants were transported back to 1955, and everyone except Jughead no longer remembered the modern world they belonged in. As Jughead wears a new outfit that resembles his comic book counterpart, it appears the show will be referring to the original Archie comics in this new timeline.

Riverdale should end with a bang

Riverdale's seventh season makes sense since it explores a new timeline similar to the original comics. Archie will try to win over Veronica, a new girl in Riverdale, much like in season 1.

With a brand new yet familiar setting, the final season will appeal to fans of Archie Comics and those who have grown up with Riverdale. Until Riverdale finally comes to a close, many memorable plots are left in its 50s storyline, with Archie clearly at the center as he pursues Veronica.
