Jacobellis was born on August 19, 1985, and was raised in southern Vermont, where her family had a summer home, and in Danbury, Connecticut, where she was born. Jacobellis's mother and father, Ben and Anita Jacobellis encouraged her and her older brother Ben to register themselves in various sports. She had always been a competitor, trying to outpace her father or Ben on the slopes.

From skiing to snowboarding

When her family's home burned down when she was eight years old, damaging all her equipment, she switched from skiing to snowboarding.

We could only afford to purchase snowboards as they couldn't afford to purchase brand-new ski equipment. She completed her high school education at the college-preparatory Stratton Mountain School in Vermont, which specializes in creating athletes for winter sports. She claimed that fighting against boys influenced her approach toward the sport, and she was the only female contestant in the snowboard cross.

Career

With five gold medals in the boardercross competition at Winter X from 2006 to 2009 and a silver in 2007, Lindsey Jacobellis has established herself as the best American woman in the sport.

She was the Grand Prix and World Champion in 2005 and had a strong chance of taking home the gold in the Olympics in 2006. Before the Olympics in Torino, she was the subject of several television ads highlighting her quest for the SBX gold.

At Torino, Jacobellis had a three-second advantage over Frieden going into the last jump after controlling the race most of the distance. Jacobellis, though, hot-dogged it and attempted a twisting grasp before falling. Jacobellis could return for the silver medal, but Frieden beat her for the gold.

Major winning

Jacobellis qualified for the snowboard cross final in her second Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018. She had been in the lead for most of the race but came in fourth position just.003 seconds short of the podium.

At the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, Jacobellis won the snowboard cross gold medal in her fifth Olympics. After five days without a gold medal, the US finally won one in Beijing. After a sixteen-year quest for Olympic gold, several media sites praised her determination to succeed. After winning the individual snowboard cross, Jacobellis and teammate Nick Baumgartner took first place in the mixed team snowboard cross.

Personal life

Adam Bakkedahl, Lindsey Jacobellis' boyfriend, has a marketing degree from San Diego City College. Adam is a real estate agent at Coldwell Bander Reality in Laguna Beach. He is also a photographer who started doing it professionally in 2010.

On February 9, Lindsey Jacobellis earned her first gold medal for her country USA at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She then won her second gold medal on February 12 in mixed team snowboard cross, a brand-new Olympic event. She competed in the event alongside Nick Baumgartner, 40, a lifetime friend and another seasoned athlete, and they showed that even at their advanced age, they could not slow down.

Lindsey has completed nearly five Winter Olympics, and She took home two silver medals from those Olympics, but she never took home the coveted gold.

Jacobellis participated in The Challenge: Champs vs Pros, a charitable episode of MTV's The Challenge. She participated in the competition to help the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals generate money. With Kamerion Wimbley, her teammate, in the final challenge, she came in second place.
